The State of Phishing: is this phenomenon still growing?
According to the latest reports and analysis, phishing is the most common type of security breaches. It seems like 90%+ of cyber attacks start with a phish. This phenomenon is huge, and we should all be careful with our personal data. Shortly said, phishing is a cybercrime in which malevolent individuals contact people by email posing as a legitimate institution and trying to lure them into providing sensitive information like banking details, credit card information, passwords and even social security data.
Moreover, not only individuals are targeted by cybercriminals. Companies and their employees are also on their list of targets. The risks are enormous for businesses. Any employee can be involved in a phishing scam and can provide confidential information and personal data to criminals. The first consequence is financial loss. Besides, the damage on the company’s reputation can follow a business for years.
